About Omni Learning centre

Omni Learning Centre is a preschool that provides an academically enriched curriculum for children from the age of 2 to 5 years. It is located inside an actual school, which provides an optimal learning environment and facilitates kindergarten preparedness.

Omni is an inclusive program and located in the Sagonaska School, which is considered a demonstration school. There are three main rooms used at the school for our programs – a classroom, motor room and large open gym. And we can’t forget our outdoor room. We have a fenced in yard with a playground for plenty of safe outdoor play.

Omni Learning Centre offers a morning or afternoon preschool program. For a list of our schedule and fees, click here.

About Our Staff

Omni has two full-time qualified Early Childhood Educators. Cecilia DeRoche is the full-time supervisor/teacher, Kelsey Ferguson is the full-time teacher. In addition to formal training, our staff have many years of teaching skills. Our staff are actively involved in professional development. Omni is involved with the Resource Consultant program from Family Space. Depending on the needs of the children, each class may have an “Enhanced Support Worker” in addition to the two full time staff.

Kelsey Ferguson

Hi, my name is Kelsey Ferguson. I have worked in the childcare field for 8 years. This will be my first year at OMNI, and I am very excited to start this journey. Before this position at OMNI I was the supervisor of a Preschool and Before & After School Program at a public school in the county.

I live in the county with my fiancé Jeff, and our son Bentley. We love being outside, going to the many beaches in the county, going out on the boat, snowmobiles, etc.

I absolutely love working with children. I am looking forward to providing your children the tools to explore, learn, and test themselves in preparation for school and the rest of their lives.

Philosophy & Goals

The programme was established for the purpose of providing a worthwhile social, emotional, intellectual and physical experience to all preschool aged children. We promote development of the “whole” child. This includes a balance of child selected and teacher guided activities in a planned curriculum. It is based on the principles from the Early Learning Framework in preparation for the formal school system. The learning experience should be the result of an actual experience; that play is a significant way of learning; and the preschool should be a place of joy for children, parents and staff.

We strive to provide a stimulating play environment rich in emotional support for trust and loving relationships to develop among children and adults, and the development of the child’s healthy self-concept. Through correct stimulation and opportunities, the environment is a place that helps children learn how to learn.

Program Goals

  1. To provide opportunities for meaningful play that is based on the child’s individual needs, interests, abilities and that will build important foundations for future skills.
  2. To expand a child’s awareness of himself and his world around him by creating an environment suited for the implementation of a planned educational curriculum.
  3. To provide opportunities for parents to grow in their understanding of child development and child management techniques; as well as opportunities to meet other parents who have as their common concern the interests and needs of the preschool child.
  4. To help contribute to the wholesome growth and development of the children of the community, while meeting the needs of the college for an Early Childhood Education facility for preschool teachers in training.
  5. To develop the necessary skills required for each child to have success when moving on to the formal school environment.
